Little Fighter 2

Firzen fighting Freeze in the Queen's Island stage of Little Fighter 2
I have played Little Fighter 2 before, and now I just felt like playing it again and wow... it is so difficult and fun and all sorts of awesome. I have never been into fighting games, really. The commands are always a pain to learn. There are too few of them in the PC platform, and only a very few of those are actually good. But, I love LF2.

Basically, the game is about choosing a character and punching everyone in the face until their HP goes to zero. There are versus, battle, championship and stage modes.

The versus mode supports 2 to 8 players, up to 4 humans or 8 machines, and up to 4 teams. The battle mode is a war which is pretty much the versus mode, with 2 teams, and a lot of cpu controlled characters. The championship mode is just the versus mode with a championship table. Finally the stage mode is a 5 stage game with boss fights and hundreds of enemies.
The game features a lot of items, all of them throwable, this including baseball bats, baseball balls, energy drinks, boulders, etc. All of the character commands are written in a readme file that comes with the game. Though most of them are just DEFENSE + DIRECTION + ATTACK or JUMP. This includes some healing spells, freezing spells, fire spells and energy ball thingies spells.

If you think the game is too hard, you can change the difficult level to easy. There are also normal, hard and, if you think the game is too easy, CRAZY! difficult levels. If you don't like playing against the CPU though, you can play with real people. LF2 can start multiplayer battles in the same computer, or over the network. Though I haven't tried the network multiplayer yet.

I also heard about a new game made by the same developer called Hero Fighter. It's on version 0.6 as of date of writing and... well, it sucks. No, I mean it. It's a giant let down for me. Sure, the UI got a facelift from Little Fighter, the HP, MP, and "run energy" bars are better positioned. But the whole game can be done just by mashing buttons non stop.

The thing is that Little Fighter 2 was about the fighters, while Hero Fighter is more about armies. Oh, and you can mount horses. In LF2, you could die for the weakest of the enemies if you just mashed buttons nonstop. But in hero fighter, you can kill tens of enemies just pressing the attack button. Your army helps, but when the actual enemy boss comes, your army is obliterated. You can't kill him the same way you kill most mobs. Your so powerful army is now useless. And it just becomes unbalanced.

Now if you excuse me, I have to play some little fighter!
